C.H. Tung has resigned.

I don't doubt him being a nice man, he was just incompetant both in pleasing China AND the HK people. Now I wonder who is going to take his place. His resignation doesn't necessarily mean a point scored for democracy...

it does not AT ALL score point for democracy i guess....

i don't even see china wanting to give any more democracy, to china, it is embarrassing for them since tung was incompetent in that issue.

bah, i dunno what to think, eitherway, since I have investment club meeting tonight, this news will be disucussed esp its effects on stock markets -__-

well, I suppose a lot of people are sitting down and holding their breaths... ever since the Chris Patten era, I think HK people have become more cautious in these changes, so if the market respond, it'll be a very cautious one... it's been doing that the last few times.

but then again, I'm no economist =P

I agree with that. I've talked with people from HK, mainland people living in HK, and mainland people on their opinions on Tung and their opinions are very varied. D: Either way, what you just said pretty much summarizes everything. Whoever's filling his spot isn't going to have an easy time.
