I've read quite a few posts on those comms, and sometimes I just don't get why people can shun other people like that (particularly when I think the application is perfectly good). A bunch of people gather together and claim they're good at something. Those people set the standards and there are people willing to agree with those standards, applying and hoping become part of a so-called "elite" group. And what do you get by becoming part of that group? You get to judge other people's stuff.
These people have lost me somewhere along the line. Of course, some "applications" are pure junk, but most of what those people judge are forms of expression, forms of "art" even, and who the heck are they to say if somebody's stuff is good or not? Maybe the bold, clashing colours of my layout say something about me. Maybe it describes me perfectly. My journal is about me. It's not about pleasing YOUR eyes.
