Canon cannon
Feb. 16th, 2009 10:12 amA character who is sort-of-but-not-really-minor in canon is taking over the whole fic. It's all drifting towards AU now, and that character who is sort-of-but-not-really-minor in canon is drifting towards OC since there is nothing on her in canon. (I almost typed "cannon". Ah...)
I spent the whole night trying to remember a word which I had wanted to use (but not anymore). This morning it popped into mind, it's "artillery". That's the one for weapons in an argument, right? I kept coming up with words like "bullet" and "ballast" and "fire power" instead. This happens to me a lot. Like that time when I wanted "sabbatical" but I could only think of "sabotage", and when I wanted "lucrative" when I could only come up with "ludicrous". I knew it was wrong but WHAT WAS THE RIGHT WORDDDDD? (Liz said, "well, at least you got the beginning part of the words right...")
One day I will learn English. Today is not the day.
Today is the day I sit and wait for instructions at work, following which there will be frantic amounts of activity.
Today is also the day I wondered why there seemed to be so few blind women on the streets. Whenever I see a blind person, it's a man, 99% of the time. Is it that women are less likely to go blind, or that blind women need more support than they are getting to feel safe to go out?
Today I also wonder what really defines an "awesome character" to me. The Gentleman Bastards of LoLL are awesome. Daniel and Fermin and Daniel's dad of The Shadow of the Wind. Jon Snow of ASOIAF (until he fell head over heels for a wildling). Integra of Hellsing.Father Robocop Tres (and everyone in AX) of Trinity Blood. Tezuka of The Prince of Tennis. Lelouch and Jeremiah of CG. I suppose the connection between them is that they know what they're doing and they don't repeatedly display their stupid, even though their motivations or methods may be flawed. And they don't go around throwing the word "justice" to justify what they do. Unlike, oh, Yang Guo of Return of Condor Heroes and Setsuna F Seiei of G00. They just make me think "okay I got the message, can we move on now? And please stop being stupid once in a while, it's stopped being amusing since in the middle of the last season/volume."
I should stop overusing the word "awesome". *thinks of Eddie Izzard*
