Dec. 14th, 2006 10:50 amI've been watching a lot of TV lately. Possibly more than the last 3 years put together (excluding the news), without exaggerating.
Anyway, there was this documentary called Unknown White Male which totally fascinated me. It was about a 35 years-old man who, for no apparent physical reason (they later think it's psychological trauma), suddenly had total amnesia. And it talked about his initial panic, how he rediscovered family and friends, how some friendships have to fade away because there is just no connection anymore, how he relearned the most basics like, "this is the sea" but he'd instinctively know how to swim. And friends and family got interviewed about how the man isn't the same man anymore, thus implying that who we are is nearly completely shaped by our life experiences. At the end of the documentary, the man has lived his new life for 2 years already and none of his memory has come back, and he expressed no interest in regaining it, even though evidently he had a good life before the amnesia. Those close to him - particularly new friends he's made after losing his memory - are worried about how remembering would make things suddenly difficult again, but old friends obviously want the old guy back. It was just fascinating.
There is more info on the documentary here on the BBC and here on the official site.
New Christmas PoT bromides! I can think of a place where we might be able to get them in Tokyo. :D
I shall go back to checking my Tenimyu orders spreadsheet now. I thought people were squeeing about Yuuki Jutta's Jackal a lot, but taking away the "all Rikkai" orders, only ONE person wants his photoset. :O Oishi and Fuji are tie in the the lead now, followed by Eiji and then Marui.
[edit] Yahoo Japan Auction is always impossibly slow or just doesn't even load when I'm on the work connection. BEH. It especially hate loading images.
I bought Damien Rice's "9". IT'S GORGEOUS.
