The flight took off late, only got home around half an hour ago. There were like, 5 packages waiting for me, because of eBay purchases and such. Room's a mess. I've hardly unpacked, but must sleep now if I want to get up to shower before going to work tomorrow.

I wonder if my cats will like the German "Shiny Cat" catfood I got for them XD

Birdsong

I'm feeling quite good apart from this strange... feeling in my head. It's kind of like a drug-induced haze, it doesn't hurt or anything but it's just weird. Perhaps I'll go get some mint tea or something eucalyptus or melony lemony, which may help. I suppose it's from all the travelling.

Finished reading "Birdsong" on the plane last night. The parts about the war is quite interesting and very well written, but other than that I didn't find it as enjoyable as it's reputed to be. The fact that Elizabeth's and Jack's parts come so late in the story feels as though I was suddenly ripped from Stephen's world and everything fell apart into bits and pieces, in a bad (and cliched) way. There was just something wrong with the overall flow of it. And I still have no idea why it's called "Birdsong" (maybe I'm just stupid), and Stephen's fear for birds, which seemed to be something significant, was never fully explained. The very last bit where Francoise explained things to Elizabeth is far too brief, considering it covers the rest of Stephen's life and how/when he found out what Isabelle was hiding from him, etc. And the whole story ended with Robert. Robert, of all people. I think Elizabeth would have been the appropriate character to end the novel with.

It appears that some AmazonUK reviews agree with me on this book, including some top reviewers. *phew* I thought it was just me.

Want food. I've eaten so much in the past few days, and now still want to eat! Maybe I'll go have early lunch today...

ate some popcorn, now feel bloated O_o maybe I should stop eating popcorn for a few weeks, it's bad for my appetite, it must be.
