The <s>Kashiwagi</s> Rikkai Family

pezThis is for my own amusement since I doubt anybody reading this would've seen Hitotsu Yane no Shita.
Background
When Genichirou's parents died in an accident 8 years ago, he split his 5 brothers up to be taken care of by relatives and adopters in hope they'd have better lives because he couldn't take care of them on his own. When Genichirou's sports career ended painfully and he was about to get married, he decided to find his siblings again. Things didn't go as smoothly as he thought they would.
The family
Tatsuya - Genichirou, 26. Called "Gen-an-chan" or just "baka" by most of his siblings except Seiichi and Renji who call him Genichirou. Apart from the yelling of Tarundoru and Tawakega, his most well-known words were "そこに愛はあるのかい?" (is there love in that?) Had a not-overly-glamourous sports career until his leg muscle broke and could no longer run fast. Wanted to reunite with his brothers at first since he was about to get married, but the marriage never happened because of his youngest brother. And after seeing his brothers' lives, he decided to take it upon himself to reunite everyone for good. Spent his life savings on opening a laundry/drycleaning shop because he liked the feel and smell of clean bedsheets. Theshaft of Rikkai pillar of the family. Always wearing the black cap, just like Tatsuya always wore the headscarf!
Masaya - Renji, 25. Called "Chi-niichan" or "Ren-nii" by most sibling except Genichirou and Seiichi who call him Renji. Adopted by a rich family who ran a hospital and preferred him over their own son as the successor. Had conflicting ideas about reuniting with his siblings; it was a choice between wealth and his brothers. He tried to play down a lot of what Genichirou was doing or trying to do for their younger brothers, but he always knew he wanted them more than money, and that was what he chose in the end. Level-headed. Quite cool and aloof, or so he seemed, until you see him do the KenKen face. To his amazement, his adoptive family still saw him as their son and promised to provide for him if he ever needed help.
Koyuki - Seiichi, 22. Not related by blood to the rest of the family (an abandoned child at the hospital where Genichirou's dad worked), but only Genichirou and Renji knew this. Had a relationship with his (married) sachou,Kusakabe Sakaki, because he was lonely, but that was brought to a stop by his brothers. Was treated well by his adoptive family but moved out to live on his own because he didn't want to be their burden any longer. Moved into Genichirou's house after both Akaya and Bunta came home, and at the same time stopped seeing Sakaki and quitted his job to help at the laundry shop. He looked after everyone, ran the house and cooked the dinner, essentially becoming the mother of the family.
Kazuya - Akaya, 20. Went into the juvenile detention centre for assault, and since then hadn't been able to find a stable job. Got into fights a lot and tangled with the police a lot, always the prime suspect of crimes he never committed. Threatened Genichirou with a knife when he first showed up, and would not have returned if not for the collective effort of his elder brothers. Trouble-maker. Fought (verbally and physically) with Genichirou a lot, the two always reaching for each other's necks over the smallest things, with Renji being the one to pull them apart most of the time. Actually Akaya respected Genichirou a lot, though he would never say it. Would eventually pursue a career in sports, just like Genichirou did.
Koume - Niou, 17. Bright, a little cunning but essentially a good person. Intensely disliked by his adoptive family and suffered a lot of bullying at home. Threw a fit at Genichirou when Genichirou first showed up, saying "why bother coming back now?". Always took care of himself because no one else would take care of him. Secretly liked to study and go to university, but family said outright that they would not pay for the education. Instead of asking Genichirou or Renji for help/money, he wounded up working in a host club until Akaya saw him and told Genichirou who, together with Renji, did everything they could to bring him back. Very close to Seiichi, shared a lot of secrets with him. Younger than Akaya in age, but older emotionally. And taller, too.
Fumiya - Bunta, 15. Once a bright and happy boy, but had a traffic accident and was confined to a wheelchair since then. Seemingly autistic, would not speak and feared almost everyone. His adoptive family (their uncle) placed him in a care home because they had their own children to take care of. Bunta forbid them from contacting his brothers because he didn't want them to feel guilty or obliged to take care of him, so his siblings only found out when Genichirou tried to contact him. Genichirou insisted on taking him home despite a lot of frightened, senseless screaming and tears. This caused Genichirou's future parents-in-law to stop the marriage since they could not let their daughter marry with someone who was a bit poor AND had to take care of a cripple. Bunta had very low self esteem until his brothers eventually helped him open up to the world again.
Why is Jackal and Yagyuu not there, you ask? There are only 6 in the cast. Jackal's got the wrong ethnicity. Yagyuu... can be Niou's friend. >D (but god no, not Jasmine. XDDDDD) Probably the younger Kiuchi (Renji's younger brother in rich family). They can always come to know each other for whatever reason... Niou visited Renji a lot at the hospital, where Renji was doing his degree, anyway. That's from canon. And oh the younger Kiuchi was about to apply to uni too. Perfect age and timing. >D
Made Bunta Fumiya because I'm sick of bubbly!kawaii!Bunta. *mumble mumble*
Of course, in Hitotsu no Yane no Shita 2, the intricate relationship between the three eldest that was only touched on in the previous series gets fully exposed - Koyuki had a crush on Tatsuya, Masaya liking Koyuki since they were little...... and then Koyuki got sick. Very very sick. And that, ha, is totally Troika.
As for other characters, like the family friend Hirose, who liked to put his drinks in (unused) urine sample cups and had travelled around Asia as a free doctor, whose clinic Niou'd hang out in sometimes... I'm not sure yet. Would be funny if it's Inui!
The best part would be when every single one of them do the KenKen face together.
Apparently there are people planning to release subs, but they said back in October they had it all transcribed, and still nothing's come out, so I doubt it'll ever happen.
Well, that's the silliness of the day. I should try to focus on work now.

Date: 2007-05-16 11:21 am (UTC)I don't remember too much of the original story (it's been several years), but I think you fit Rikkai in very nicely! Heart the Troika, and wow... Koyuki's getting sick was so Yukimura... I think s/he ended up with Tatsuya/Sanada as well? The coincidence O_o
