The harddrive fell...
Feb. 27th, 2007 02:57 pmURGENT HELP PLEASE.
My sister's external harddrive has just made friends with the floor. Now the computer wouldn't read it at all.
I *know* dropping it more or less = death, but anyway, has anyone had similar experience and had been able to rescue any data at all? There are things in the drive that she'd be willing to pay for data recovery, but is it even worth trying?

Date: 2007-02-27 03:06 pm (UTC)I suppose it all depends on how high the drive fell from and how much data she wants to get back...
Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

Date: 2007-02-27 03:41 pm (UTC)If the hard drive is dead and there is no way you can get it to work even by putting it in as in internal disk, then your sister is in a tough spot.
Data recovery prices here go almost to 5000 dolars, so it's a bit OUCH
I hope everything turns out for the best.
