I DON'T FUCKING KNOW. MY LINE MANAGER'S BEEN SAYING HE WANTS ME PROMOTED EVER SINCE END OF LAST YEAR AND THAT DECEMBER I WASN'T ON THE PROMOTION LIST. AND I'M NOT ON IT THIS TIME EITHER. APPARENTLY THE DIRECTOR SAID IT'S EITHER JULY OR DECEMBER FOR ME, BUT I DON'T FUCKING TRUST HIM ENOUGH TO WAIT TILL DECEMBER NOW. I SO FUCKING DESERVE THIS PROMOTION.
Out of everyone on this floor, they promoted 2 people. One totally deserves it (he should've been promoted last year IMO), the other one I don't work with, but he's very experienced, so I suppose that's right.
The thing is, I'm a Grade 7 (graduate). The highest is Grade 1 (Director). There's been no Grade 6 in my team since the only one left last year, there is nobody in Grade 5 in my team either. Ever since the G6 left I've been doing her stuff and my own. Why the fuck should I not get to become a G6? And I was the only G7 in the team too, for the longest time, until they recruited that retarded new guy - so retarded that I cannot actually delegate work to him. AFAIK now the Director of this office believes in keeping people low. And they wonder why they have problems with staff retention?!?!?! We only have 3 CAD technician who are constantly loaded with work and now one of them, the one with most experience, is leaving because he's been here 6 years but still isn't getting recognition or the appropriate level of salary. He got another job elsewhere which will pay him over 50% more than he's getting here. WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS OFFICE. YOU SHOULD GIVE PEOPLE WHAT THEY DESERVE AND NOT ONLY SEE PROMOTION AS A BUSINESS/FINANCIAL DECISION. BECAUSE IF YOU KEEP DOING IT, PEOPLE ARE JUST GOING TO UP AND LEAVE. WHICH IS WHAT I'LL DO, FUCK THEM ALL.
They may be seeing it as, why bother promoting you when you're already doing the work? I think you should say something about this to someone. Maybe if they hire more low-levels, you'll be able to move up?
Or you could try following that CAD technician. >.>
That is so stupidly common. :/ Looking over at promotions on the financial side and not on the work/deserve side. *hugs*
I'm also looking for a job, since freelance graphic design in this stupid country doesn't work. It's almost ridiculous, one busts one's brain out studying to find a place in the job market then either your overqualified or the options given are close to 'slavery'.
... what to do? I wish you good luck finding another job. or have you tried talking to your supervisor about it?
