Done this before, but after formatting comp...

What do I need to do to get Windows Media Player to play DVDs? Install codec (from where), or just fiddle with ffdshow? VideoLAN only plays (sketchy) sounds...

and to complete the spam, I suck. That link up there wasn't entirely right...at least I don't think it was, but it should be on that site somewhere *sighs*

somehow it isn't working for me. installed media player classic and it runs fine (with or without divx codec bundle) except the video isn't smooth... ;_;

gotta sleep. *hugs* night

Don't install codecs.

They're evil.

Just ensure you have the latest version of FFDshow and Media Player Classic 6.4.8.2...

Normally it should work afterwards... DVDs don't need codecs.

I really was going to sleep. ^^"

Now only have ffdshow and MPC. The video isn't smooth... ;_;

Can you screencap to show me?

I have seen DVDs that are really ugly when watched in computers... wonder if yours is like that...

oh the pic quality is fine, it just kind of like... stutters a little?

Mmm... could it be your PC processor is not fast enough?

Normally a commercial DVD should play smoothly since they are made to be run on DVD players not computers so no codecs can be installed.

And either VideoLan or MediaPlayer Classic play DVDs without anything extra... so I'm quite intrigued.

IF your DVD is a legit commercial copy, you might want to try hitting the playback section of AnimeSuki and ask if anyone can help you EVEN if it's not an anime problem... you might be lucky (or not).
