Banks

The whole NatWest thing is making me rethink my banking arrangements - all my accounts are with the same bank and that's pretty dangerous. I want to open another account somewhere and have a little bit of money in there which I wouldn't touch unless it's an emergency.

So, has anyone got banking recommendations? Anywhere except HSBC since that's who I'm with at the moment.

I go with Nationwide - and because they're a building society rather than a bank, they aren't ass affected by all the banking crisis stuff.

Halifax apparently have some quite good deals going, but no personal knowledge there

I've been using Halifax for the past 12yrs now, which haven't really failed me too much.

I have 2 credit cards on different banks though as emergancy.

Might have to look into Halifax and try not to think about their stupid ads. XD

Speaking of banks, I got the government rebate and got it transferred to my UK account. Have you done it yet?

Mmm, did you just transfer the money over and close the HK account?

I haven't done anything with that money yet!

I transferred all of the money and left the account there. If there is no money in it it won't deduct any fee. Next time I put money in it it'll take the $50, but whatever. Just in case I need a HK account for something.

I've heard some good things about both! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check them out tomorrow.

I second Nationwide. Been with them for a long time and had no problems.
