There's some groups here that go crazy for World Cup, but it's nowhere near the level any type of hockey coverage gets. I swear it was declared a national day of mourning when the men's Canadian hockey team was knocked out of the olympics.
I don't think my vote counts much, though - I'm from fucking Germany and everything is fuckball here, right now. Have I mentioned my utterly disgust about fuckball yet? Maybe as an innuendo... :o) But indeed, also if you don't take into account that we have to host it this year, I think the fuckballcup, wherever it usually takes place, has much more attention than the Olympic Games.
It would be True, were I living in England. As it's Wales, the main World Cup interest is in where people can buy colours for the teams which are playing against England.
not usually, though people do celebrate if their team is doing well. just, overall Olympics tend to do more. mind you playoffs bring yearly (except for last year, boo) chaos. especially if the home team is doing well and it's a game night.
The World Cup is more important than finals here. High school junior year finals. Just today someone asked if he could be late for class tomorrow because he could only leave home at halftime and not a second before. =___=
But only because there're more Asians here than there are white people, black people, and otherwise-colored people combined! And most of the Asians are Korean.
