I wonder if bitumen washes out from skin easily.

I see A LOT of work coming my company's way in the next few years. Yay for the Olympics.

It's... also bitumen in German, I think. It's one of the many kinds of stuff you can use on the road. They usually put it down hot, and it stinks.

More specifically, at an oil refinery, the stuff that is the most volatile comes out on top, eg gases and gasoline. And the least volatile stuff, with the most complex hydrocarbon chains, becomes the residue, and bitumen is one of the residues. I think that's what it is, it's been a loooong time since I learned about it in school.
