I've tried watching .avi on this comp and couldn't, so went to download ffdshow...

Tried several versions of ffdshow, but all it does is make my explorer and WMP crash when I try to play videos *weeps* what should I dooooooo

I can download Anipuri 144 within 30 minutes but I can't watch it!!!

One of my friends was having a problem playing a movie. Someone gave her this link to a player that it would work on. Maybe you could give it a try?

Good luck!

Ooooh yeah I forgot about that player! I had problems with 2 videos on my London comp and that was the only player that would play them... *goes download* Thanks!!!

I was going to repeat it... since it was the player I once rec'd to you ^_~

^^" It worked in my London comp... but now I'm ready to stab this comp to death because it's not working here. Only giving me spasmic images and sounds *cries*

Mmmm...

Normally, VideoLan is supposed to RUN everything... even more if it's a straight-forward .avi file...

It's quite possible you have some evil codecs installed on this computer that prevents good playing. Sorry, though... I'm stumped (although IF the file you are trying to watch is a regular fansub of an UNLICENSED anime... why not ask the guys at AnimeSuki? Here: http://forums.animesuki.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23

BUT it has to be an unlicensed anime... or else they'll have your head for even daring to ask!

what worked for me was , uninstall all the codecs, liek divx and stuff coz all u need is the new ffdshow and AC3..

that's what i needed anyway.
there is a rumour there there are bugs with the new ffdshow, but there is a new version with adjustment to the Mpeg4 or Mpeg2 thing i think..

The new ffdshow (20040718) crashes my WMP and explorer. Some of the older versions don't have this problem.

Right now I can play the files.... there are sounds and video but it's all "jut"... I'm going crazy tryin to solve this

Without any codecs my comp would just play the audio, not video. The audio would be smooth. With ffdshow (any version that works), I get both audio and video, but they're both "jut"...

How about this?

REMOVE FFDshow, DivX, etc... (aka all codecs).

Reboot.

Go to VLN and install it.

Then see what happens...

Still doesn't work ^^"

I've registered on AnimeSuki forum so to ask for help, but the registration email isn't coming for some reason O_o so I guess I'll have to admit defeat today and try again tomorrow ;_;

Thanks for all your help though!
