We're staying at the Premiere inn for exactly that reason. It's a pain though; even if you've got a car it's not convenient to to-and-fro all day to change costumes etc.
I guess the UK campus-cons are going to have to face up to the fact that their clientelle's getting older sooner or later!
I guess this is too late but I just managed to book a double room at Radcliffe (ie on campus) for £78/night including breakfast for 2. It's not cheap but since otherwise we'd have to taxi in and out for three days, this works out better for us. :D If it's something you might be interested in just let me know, I can email you details!
I'm staying on-site because last Aya I was off-site and had to get taxis and buses which was a pain and I prob ended up spending the same at the end of it =/ Single bed doesn't bother me as I'm always alone *sniff*
