London

I was a big mess the last couple of days. I'm still some sort of a mess now, but I've gotten loads of support from friends (omg even Edward was sweet to me), so I'll be okay. I think tomorrow after college I'll go sit at Y2's place for a while. Being near him always makes me feel better.

Haven't been online for a few days, just checked my friends-page and there are so many things to catch up with! If I owe you an email, you should be getting it soon. If I own you a LJ reply... I can't remember what I've replied and what I haven't, sorry.

I've done some serious tourism on Friday and Saturday! I had a friend from primary school coming to London for 2 days, so I took her around. It was quite funny really, I've done all this about 10 years ago, and doing it again with my friend was actually quite fun.

Day 1

Stop 1: Harrods
Dropped friend off at Harrods whilst I went to my lectures. They had gorgeous window displays as usual.

Stop 2: British Museum
Picked up friend again, and gone to this place where they call the British Museum when in fact there's nothing British inside. ^^"

Stop 3: Covent Garden
This is one of the places I frequent, actually, because of the shops at Neal Street and I also like to watch people busk. There are two Chinese groups there, I think from Beijing, who plays the most beautiful music with very rare instruments. My mom bought a CD of them in the past and I have the MP3's in my harddrive ^^ There are also many other types of performances, and I just love sittng there to listen to their music and watch stunts.

There were really pretty Christmas lights up when we went on Friday. Lots of people were buying and selling handmade things... strong scent of coffee when we passed by the cafe in the centre... lovely ^^

Stop 4: Piccadilly Circus
After dinner we stopped by Piccadilly Circus to take some photos. Shame that the fountain thingy was boarded up ^^"

Day 2

Stop 1: London Eye
The sky was a bit grim on Saturday, but it didn't rain and we still got a good view of London. It was quite strange to point out various building of interests to my friend, because it made me feel very much a Londoner.

Stop 2: Buckingham Palace
Watched the changing of the guard. Tradition is good; the whole thing = silly; overall effect = super cool. Very strange indeed.

And the Queen's Life Guards = major coolness. Red coats, white/silver hats, black boots, black horses. *_* I'll go and see that again I think.

Stop 3: Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Downing Street
Loads of picture taking. I still thnk it's a shame people don't do this sort of buildings anymore. That sort of extreme care and fine details, with carvings everywhere, I mean.

Went to Downing Street to spy on Tony, but all we managed to see was his Christmas tree outside his front door =P

Stop 4: Shakespeare's Globe
Went on the guided tour. I would've stayed to watch a play if they actually had one on, and if it wasn't so damn cold. They only have plays during May-Sep. Better luck next time I guess.

Stop 5: St. Paul's Cathedral
"Magnificent" is the word. Again I think it's a shame people don't build these things anymore. And how the heck did they build ceilings that high in the past anyway?!

Stop 6: Tower of London
We didn't go inside, since we knew we'd run out of time anyway, and we didn't want to pay ^^" But it's still pretty from the outside.

Stop 7: Tower Bridge
Glad that I left this last! It was a gloomy day anyway, so photos wouldn't have turned out well in the day time. It was dark already when we got there, all the lights were on and it was really pretty. ^^

After all that, and half a day of shopping today, I'm ready to just drop dead. But I've got deadlines and I haven't done any of my courseworks >_< Will write/reply emails soon... well as soon as I get my work done ^^"
