(no subject)
This was a "writing" meme, but I'm specifying it to fic-writing.
What's the last thing you wrote?
Completed? [Threshold]. Still writing? [Trials of Trust] chapter 6.
Was it any good?
[Threshold] I'm quite pleased with. Tezuka sounded in character to most readers. And I think the story, although short, says a lot in a somewhat "effortless" way.
[Trials of Trust] chapter 6, well, so far it's fine. Nothing exceptional.
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
I think I still have [Never Started] on my harddrive somewhere, that was my 2nd fic ever, written for the YYH fandom about 6 or 7 years ago (I guess). I don't think I have my first fic, but it's still floating around the net somewhere.
Were they any good?
In terms of writing skill? Non-existant I think, I can't remember and am not brave enough to read it again. The storyline itself was not bad.
Write poetry?
No.
Angsty poetry?
No.
Favourite genre of writing?
Hard to say. I write drama a lot, but I read drama and action and sci-fi and fantasy...
Most fun character you ever wrote?
Schuldich! He is so much fun. And his brain works in this warped way.
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Omi. I hate writing him, can never get him to work.
Best plot you ever wrote?
Hmm. I suppose [Red Sea]. It's hard to say. [Blinded] will be good, but I'm still not finishing it... I think it might be because I'm pressurising myself too much on trying to make it exactly the way I have it in my head, rather than just letting the story play itself, since it's already so long I don't want it to become longer.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
[Epitaph], definitely ^_~ That surprised many people and made them smile and cry at the same time too.
How often do you get writer's block?
Used to be often but not anymore. I can feel too drained about a fic though, and have to take a short break from it ([Obsession], for example)
How do you fix it?
Talk to people, bounce ideas with people, stop reading other people's things, and pick a random, day-to-day action and work on it from there. Don't know if I'm making much sense with the last one, it's a bit hard to explain.
Write fan fiction?
See what I mean by me changing this meme to a fanfic meme?
Do you type or write by hand?
Type. Only write by hand if I'm in a lecture/on the tube/somewhere I feel insanely bored but can't get to a keyboard.
Do you save everything you write?
Yes. But occasionally I go through them and may delete some.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
Yes. I recycle ideas.
What's your favourite thing that you've written?
I really, really can't say. I like most of the WK I've done, and everything Schwarz and Prince of Tennis I've written. They're all so different it's hard to compare and pick a favourite.
What's everyone else's favourite thing that you've written?
WK? [When You Gonna Learn] I suppose. All my Schwarz fics are in a series so I can't really pick one out, but [Blinded] got the most response. Prince of Tennis... gah I dunno, need to ask people.
Do you even show people your work?
Go to
word_games =P
Who's your favourite constructive critic?
Don't have one. I love it when I get constructive crits, but apart from one or two particular stories, I don't actively look for crits.
Do you have a web site for your writings?
The Crossroads, BradCrawford.org and
word_games.
Did you ever write a novel?
No.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
Do the Schwarz ones classify as fantasy? Hmm I guess not ^^"
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Hahahaha just read my Prince of Tennis stuff.
What's your favourite setting for your characters?
There isn't a favourite.
What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Horror.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Actively, 2. Including the semi-active ones, probably 4.
Do you want to write for a living?
No, but I'd love to be able to publish, if only just once, something that people will pay to read.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
No.
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
In terms of fanfiction, yeah, the ones that fans give out. I haven't done any other creative writing so really, no.
Ever written something in script or play format?
Yes, for something in uni.
What are your five favourite words?
Silence, touch, shiver, smile, fuck (Schuldich says it a lot).
Do you ever parody?
Not in fanfiction. I do in RPs.
What's your favourite thing to parody?
I don't know. The last time I did Jerry Springer Show.
Do you actually like that thing, or are you spitefully making fun of it?
The latter. But really, just humouring myself.
Do you ever write based on yourself?
Yes.
What character that you've written most resembles yourself?
I'll use
scribblemoose's answer: Different bits of different characters.
Where do you get ideas for your other characters?
Just daily life.
Do you ever write based on your dreams?
No, because I can't remember enough of them, and I don't want to write horror stories.
Do you favour happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
Hard to say.
Have you ever written based on an artwork you've seen?
No.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
Not "as I write", but afterwards I do my best to comb through it.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak?
No.
Entirely in L337?
I don't know enough of it to even try *snickers*
Was that question completely appalling and un-writer like?
.... *arches an eyebrow*
Does music help you write?
Usually not. I prefer writing in silence. But for [Blinded] I do have 2 songs in mind and I listen to them as I write.
Do you have a weblog or livejournal?
Yes.
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
I have the best English out of all my RL Asian friends, so when they read my uni work they are surprised.
Quote something you've written. The first thing to pop into your mind.
"A fatal wound only hurts for a brief moment;
But pain for the living lasts a lifetime."
[Far Too Close], chapter two, towards the ending.
